The Toronto Raptors have signed Gonzaga Bulldogs guard Malachi Smith to a non-guaranteed Exhibit 10 training camp contract through the work of his agent, Michael Lelchitski of SIG Sports.
Across 15 games, four of which were starts, played with the Brooklyn Nets to close out the 2025-26 season, 6-4 Smith averaged 8.3 points on a shooting split of 48.5 percent from the field/43.5 percent on three-pointers/100.0 percent at the free-throw line, 3.4 rebounds, and 3.3 assists per contest. He was waived back on July 10 after the organization exercised his minimum salary team option on June 30, in order to make salary cap space.
Toronto doesn’t have any of its three two-way spots available and currently has 17 players on the payroll (both standard and training camp contracts), including Smith’s $2,185,116 that he’s owed next season. An NBA roster has a 15-player limit. Once the trade of forward Brandon Ingram and guard Gradey Dick for Los Angeles Clippers forward Kawhi Leonard goes through, one roster spot will open up for the Raptors.

The 26-year-old Smith will be fighting mostly with Oregon Ducks center Nate Bittle, who went undrafted in 2026, for minutes throughout the preseason. If he were to get cut, Smith should have the option to join the Raptors 905, Toronto’s NBA G League affiliate.
