“Deserves to be There”: Basketball World Congratulates Mark Few as Gonzaga Boss Enters Hall of Fame

Mark Few’s legendary coaching career in college basketball has finally been validated in the most apt way as he enters the Naismith Basketball Hall of Fame, capping off over three decades of coaching hoops among the best college basketball has to offer. To celebrate the occasion, fans chimed in to offer their respects to the legendary Gonzaga coach.

“What a crazy, crazy, surreal moment for me,” Few said during his Hall of Fame speech.

“I absolutely have to start with this. The town I grew up in had a population of 1,500 people. It had one stoplight. So to be standing where I am today is absolutely mind-boggling. I say that because people have asked me if this is a dream come true, and I’m telling you, I couldn’t even think about dreaming such a thing where I came from.”

Fans also sent their congratulations, with one fan making it clear he “deserves to be there, but it seems like they shouldn’t get in until they are done.”

Mark Few Transformed Gonzaga

Mark Few will always be known as the man who made Gonzaga a force to be reckoned with in college basketball. Starting as head coach of the program in 1999, he made them one of the most consistent programs in college hoops.

Few owns a staggering 773-156 record with a 0.834 winning percentage, making him the winningest active NCAA Division 1 men’s basketball coach in this metric.

Under his leadership, Gonzaga have made every single NCAA Tournament, with 45 victories for Few in the showpiece March event. His 23 regular season conference championships and 21 conference tournament titles have cemented his legacy as Gonzaga’s finest.
