You’re Nuts: How many Ohio State players will record a 30-point game this season?

Welcome back to another stimulating and spirted edition of “You’re Nuts.”

The Friday edition, as always, is the basketball version, and despite us being smack in the middle of the deadest part of the offseason, we push onward.

There’s not any new news to speak of regarding the Ohio State men’s basketball team. The Buckeyes wrapped up their trip to Puerto Rico last week, there’s been nothing new regarding the final available roster spot, and we’re also in the middle of an NCAA recruiting dead period (until August 19) which means no visits or evaluations of any kind.

The team itself doesn’t even need to be back on campus for another nine days, so there’s nothing happening at the Schott, either.

Last week, Connor and Justin both picked one player that they thought did something noteworthy or impressive during the team’s trip to the Caribbean.

Land-Grant Holy Land was not on site to see the games, but thanks to great reporting by the Columbus Dispatch and a pretty transparent PR team, we did get box scores and plenty of highlights from the two games.

Connor said he was pretty impressed with what Anthony Thompson did in those two games, averaging better than 13 points and 6 rebounds per game while shooting north of 60%. Justin liked that the guy he shares a first name with (the Pippen version) because he also averaged 13 points per game in the two games, but also had a 9-to-1 assist to turnover ratio.

This week, the guys are making a prediction of how many players from the 2026-27 team will record at least one (1) 30-point game this season. Last year, Bruce Thornton was the only player on the team to drop 30 in a game, doing it three separate times. Brandon Noel (29 points) and John Mobley (28 points, two times) both came close.

This week’s question: How many Ohio State players will record a 30-point game this season?
