Auburn basketball lands transfer guard ahead of the 2026-27 season

While Auburn basketball has been overseas in Greece, they are also added a new player to the roster. Joe Tipton of On3 reported on Thursday Utah State transfer guard Kolby King has committed to the Tigers.  

King is able to join the Tigers due to being involved in the lawsuit after the NCAA announced an age-based five-year eligibility model per Justin Hokanson of Auburn Sports. That now makes King eligible to play for Auburn during the 2026-27 season. Hokanson also reported that King should be on campus this weekend.

Auburn will be the fifth team for King after playing for St. John’s, Tulane, Butler, and Utah State. Last season, King averaged 7.5 points per game and shot 48% from the field. He shot well from the three-point line at 39%. His best game last season was against Wyoming when he scored 20 points on six of nine shooting and connected on four three-pointers in the win.  

His best season was during the 2023-24 season when he played for Tulane. He averaged 10.4 points per game and had a shooting percentage of 47%. He will be a good rotation player for the Tigers to give them more depth in the backcourt behind Tahaad Pettiford and Kevin Overton. King along with George Kimble III, Caleb Wilson, and Simon Walker will give Steven Pearl some options off the bench.
