With the NCAA’s recent federal court injunctions creating additional eligibility for countless players around the country, schools are getting a chance at a “second” offseason with transfers who weren’t previously thought to be available.
Kansas is one of several programs looking to make another addition to round out the 2026-27 roster. On Monday, the Jayhawks were linked to yet another high-profile player who has benefited from the injunction, along with other universities like Auburn, SMU, and NC State.
Bill Self and Co, are thought to be pursuing former Morgan State guard Alfred Worrell Jr., according to The Athletic’s Tobias Bass.
Worrell Jr. was one of the most prolific scorers in the entire nation as a senior for the Bears. He led the MEAC in points per game (17.4), free throw percentage (88.5%), and 3-pointers made, earning him MEAC First-Team honors.

Although Worrell isn’t much of a creator for his teammates, averaging an uninspiring 1.1 assists per game, he sure can get a bucket when his team needs him to. He posted double figures in the point column 23 times, including 13 games with 20 or more.
Worrell does struggle with efficiency, holding a career 38.6% field goal percentage across his two years at the Division I level, with the other coming at Southern Mississippi. However, his elite shooting from the charity stripe and 3-point volume – where he attempted 7.4 per game last season – makes him an excellent candidate to serve as the first or second player off the bench for KU.
The Washington, D.C. native would be a perfect pairing with Radford transfer Dennis Parker Jr. on the second unit, who is also a score-first guard capable of putting points on the board quickly.
A move like this is dependent on whether Melvin Council Jr. is deemed eligible by the NCAA in the coming weeks. Coincidentally, Worrell also spent two years at junior college just like Council before making the jump to Division I.
