UC, Xavier to play Ohio State, Dayton at Lindner Family Tennis Center

Ohio’s four high-major men’s basketball programs will compete in an outdoor preseason exhibition doubleheader this fall.

The CareSource Invitational will feature Xavier against Dayton and UC against Ohio State at the Lindner Family Tennis Center in Mason on Wednesday, Oct. 7, The Enquirer has confirmed. The event will raise awareness and funds for mental health and suicide prevention.

Per the Columbus Dispatch, the games will be held at UD Arena in Dayton in the case of inclement weather. This will be the first basketball event at the Lindner Family Tennis Center, which will host the Cincinnati Open next month, following the $260 million campus transformation that was completed in August 2025.

Two years ago, Xavier played Dayton at UD Arena in the CareSource Charity Classic. The Musketeers beat the Flyers, 98-74, to open a season that ended in the NCAA Tournament.

“We are excited to be part of this four-team CareSource Invitational, which will not only increase conversations around mental health issues, but raise funds for nonprofit mental health and suicide prevention organizations,” Xavier head coach Richard Pitino said in a press release. “This issue impacts lives throughout Ohio and across the country.”

First-year head coach Jerrod Calhoun will take his UC Bearcats to the Bahamas for a pair of international exhibition contests in the Baha Mar Hoops Summer League in August.

The Bearcats last played Ohio State in an exhibition in 2024, winning 80-62 at Fifth Third Arena.
