Michigan State basketball will face Marquette in exhibition game

Add another game and road trip to the growing list of tests on Michigan State basketball’s upcoming schedule.

The Spartans will travel to Milwaukee to face Marquette on Sunday, Oct. 25, in an exhibitition game at Fiserv Forum. It will be a 1 p.m. tipoff, with TV info to be determined.

The Golden Eagles will play an exhibition game at Breslin Center before the 2027-28 season. It will be the second exhibition on the schedule for Tom Izzo’s team, which is slated to host Connecticut for a return visit to East Lansing after last year’s road exhibition game in Hartford. That date has yet to be released.

MSU and Marquette have a long-standing regular-season rivalry historically, which the Spartans lead 33-23 all-time. The upcoming exhibition game will be the first meeting between the two since MSU won, 69-60, in the second round of the NCAA Tournament in Columbus, Ohio, on March 19, 2023. Izzo also defeated Marquette’s Shaka Smart one other time while he was coaching at Texas.

MSU will play Arkansas on Thanksgiving Day (4:30 p.m. Thursday, Nov. 26) at Little Caesars Arena in a nonconference game and are expected to finalize a road game at Tennessee and a Dec. 19 neutral-site game against Gonzaga in Palm Desert, California soon. The Spartans also will face Duke in the Champions Classic on Nov. 10 at United Center in Chicago.
