College basketball’s non-conference slate is chock-full of enticing matchups, and another one is on the precipice of being added to the calendar this winter.
The Indiana Hoosiers are set to host the Missouri Tigers in a compelling Big Ten-SEC contest on December 18. Reports indicate that there is no plan for there to be a return game at Mizzou’s campus next season.

The Tigers and Hoosiers have met 18 previous times on the hardwood, with the all-time series deadlocked at nine wins each. It’s been a while since the two programs have faced one another, with their last meeting coming in the 2004-2005 campaign.
Tigers head coach Dennis Gates spoke about the need to play strong non-conference opponents just before this matchup was announced.
“When you look at scheduling, you have to mesh it with where the selection committee is,” Gates said Wednesday night at a ‘ZOU to YOU’ fan event. “So with the addition of spots in the NCAA Tournament, I think we got to do, and I have to increase our strength of schedule, because opportunity to get in there as a, not only a 20-win team, but something near below is definitely going to be there.”
