July 4 means hot dogs, lakes, family, fireworks, apple pie, baseball, and just about every other synonym you can think of for America. Especially this year, as the United States celebrates its 250th birthday.
For most people, it’s a day of relaxation, taking it easy, and enjoying time with family and friends.

That is for everyone except Tom Izzo.
Despite the holiday, despite the weather, and despite whatever anyone has to say about him, Izzo continues to do one thing and one thing only.
Set his team up for success—both now and in the future.
That mindset was on full display Saturday as Izzo and the Spartans continued working through the holiday, extending an offer to another highly touted recruit.
Michigan State sent out a special 20th anniversary Fourth of July offer to four-star prospect Jaxson Davis.
Davis is a 6-foot, 165-pound point guard with plenty of room to continue filling out his frame as he develops. While adding muscle will come with time, that’s not what has college coaches excited. His basketball IQ, court vision, and overall skill set have already shown programs across the country just how talented he can be.

According to 247Sports, Davis carries a 92 rating and attends Monarch Academy in Kansas City, Kansas. He is a member of the 2027 recruiting class.
That 92 rating ranks Davis as the No. 39 overall recruit in the country for the 2027 class. He is also the No. 1 player in the state of Kansas and the No. 12 point guard nationally.
His composite ranking, which combines the major recruiting services into one consensus ranking, sees him slide just slightly. Davis moves from No. 39 nationally to No. 45 overall and from the No. 12 point guard to No. 13. Even with that minor drop, he remains the top-ranked recruit in Kansas with an impressive composite rating of 0.9828.
