The Chicago Bulls are reportedly hiring former Portland Trail Blazers interim head coach Tiago Splitter as their next head coach, ESPN’s Shams Charania reported Monday.
Splitter took over as the Trail Blazers’ head coach after Chauncey Billups was placed on immediate leave after being arrested for his alleged involvement in rigged poker games.

Splitter, who has coached the team since the second game of the regular season, went 42–39 as head coach and helped lead the team to the play-in tournament for the first time since the 2019–2020 bubble season. The San Antonio Spurs knocked Portland out of the postseason going 4-1 in the series on the way to the NBA Finals.
Before coaching with the Trail Blazers, Splitter was an assistant coach with the Brooklyn Nets, Houston Rockets and Paris Basketball, and is also the head coach of the Brazilian National Team.
The 41-year-old also played overseas before winning an NBA championship with the San Antonio Spurs in 2014, and finished his NBA career playing for the Atlanta Hawks and Philadelphia 76ers.
