Multiple reports indicate that Kentucky is zeroing in on Michigan State athletic director J Batt as the leading candidate to replace Mitch Barnhart, who is set to retire in late June after 24 years as the Wildcats’ athletic director.

Barnhart’s tenure at Kentucky has been one of the most successful in school history. Since taking over in 2002, he has overseen numerous facility upgrades, coaching hires, conference championships, and national titles while helping position Kentucky as one of the premier athletic departments in the country.

Batt has quickly emerged as a popular name due to his reputation as one of the top fundraisers in college athletics.
