UConn men’s basketball continues to add depth to their 2026-27 team, as the Huskies have added 7-footer Elmir Džafić to the roster via the transfer portal. The Tuzla, Bosnia and Herzegovina native played for his country’s FIBA U18 championship team and appeared in seven games for Arkansas last season.
Džafić (pronounced El-Meer JAWF-ich) played just 16 minutes in total last season and scored three total points, all from the free throw line. He also had one point, one block and one steal. As a 20-year old rising sophomore, Džafić will most likely fill the void left by Rrezon Elezaj entering the transfer portal, providing formidable bench depth at center and developing in practice while challenging the likes of fellow transfers Oskar Giltay and Najai Hines day in and day out in practice. At 7-feet and 285 pounds, Džafić’s size is another unique frame that Dan Hurley has added to UConn’s frontcourt.

With Džafić in the fold, the Huskies now have seven transfers for the upcoming season. Including Solo Ball’s medical redshirt, the Huskies have 14 out of a maximum of 15 scholarships filled. As summer workouts get underway, it’s possible UConn fully fills out the roster by the time the school year starts, but Džafić may be the team’s final addition before the quest for a fourth Final Four since 2023 gets underway.
