Top college basketball analyst praises Duke head coach Jon Scheyer

Since taking over as Duke basketball coach four seasons ago, Jon Scheyer has led the Blue Devils to consistent success. Through his first two seasons, Scheyer piloted Duke to two 27-9 seasons, which equated to a win percentage of .750. The last two years, Duke has gotten even better, finishing with two 35-win campaigns. Although Duke has yet to get over the hump and end their 11-year NCAA championship drought, they’ve made two Elite Eight appearances and one Final Four.

In a recent interview, highly touted college basketball analyst Jay Bilas gave his opinion on Scheyer’s early tenure with Duke.

“Jon Scheyer has done an amazing job at Duke. In the four years he’s been head coach, I mean, he reached the Final Four, a couple of Elite Eights,” he said. “It’s been really remarkable, and he’s done it with different rosters each year. Duke is still getting these superstar freshmen and then putting more experienced players around them, and I think it’s worked out really well.”

Taking into account Duke’s returning talent, their five-star recruits and top transfers, all signs point to Scheyer and the Blue Devils putting together another successful campaign during the 2026-27 season.
