NC State’s ACC basketball schedule includes no home games against UNC or Duke

We could all see this coming based on the schedule last season—State did not play at UNC or Duke—but still it’s pretty strange to look at the home basketball schedule for 2027 and not see Duke or UNC on anywhere. No favors done for Justin Gainey (or the ticket office) on that one.

NC State has home-and-homes with Wake and Cal and doesn’t play Syracuse at all. The home schedule includes more former Big East teams than pre-expansion ACC teams, so that’s exciting.

Wake Forest
Cal
Louisville
Pitt
Boston College
Clemson
FSU
Notre Dame
SMU

Some of these teams are going to be better (BC, for one), but on that list there are only three schools that made the NCAA tournament in 2026. If Justin Gainey’s first team ends up being good, then people will show up, but it might be a bit of a challenge to fill seats early in league play.

It’s going to be important for NC State to take care of business at home given that basically all of its toughest conference games are going to be on the road.
