Iowa State transfer Milan Momcilovic has made his NBA Draft decision.
On Wednesday, news broke that Momcilovic was withdrawing from the draft ahead of the May 27 midnight deadline. However, he has not yet made a college commitment.

Shortly after the news broke, On3’s Joe Tipton reported that Kentucky and Louisville are viewed as the top contenders, while St. John’s and Arizona are also in the mix.
“Several sources believe Louisville and Kentucky are the frontrunners, with St. John’s as a true dark horse. While Arizona has also come up in conversations, it sounds like Tommy Lloyd and the Wildcats still have some work to do in order to close the gap,” Tipton wrote.
This past season, Momcilovic averaged 16.9 points on 50.6% shooting, including a scorching 48.7% on 7.5 3-point attempts per game, to go with 3.1 rebounds, 1.0 assists, and 0.8 steals in 30.5 minutes per game. He knocked down an NCAA-high 136 3-pointers.
Kentucky managed to get an up-close look at Momcilovic in the NCAA Tournament, as the junior forward went for 20 points on 6/12 shooting (4/9 from deep) in the Cyclones’ NCAA Tournament win over the Wildcats. Simply put, he’s the best shooter in America and would be a preseason All-American.

When Momcilovic first entered the transfer portal and declared for the NBA Draft, it was no secret that he had a strong preference to remain in the draft. However, as the pre-draft process progressed, it became clear that he would likely be a second-round pick if he stayed in the draft. Many second-round contracts aren’t guaranteed, and the ones that are usually pay in the neighborhood of $2-3 million annually.
Compare that to NIL offers of $5-7 million for next season that Momcilovic would reportedly receive, and it certainly appeared he should return to school.
However, when decision day came, buzz started to build that there was a real chance Momcilovic would keep his name in the draft.
In the end, Momcilovic made the smart decision to stay…
