3 experts tab Kentucky Basketball as the leader for Milan Momcilovic; St. John’s is out

The Milan Momcilovic sweepstakes are very much alive after the Iowa State transfer Milan Momcilovic withdrew his name from the NBA Draft on Wednesday evening. The Kentucky Wildcats are in desperation mode as they look to add arguably the top transfer this cycle to their roster for the 2026-27 season and finally land a bona fide star.

CBS Sports’ Natt Norlander clearly thinks the Wildcats are in the lead, as evidenced by the prediction he made on where Momcilovic ends up on his podcast with Gary Parrish.

“My prediction right now is that Milan Momcilovic will go to Kentucky. From my understanding, that decision will come in the next one, two, three, or four days,” Norlander said. “I am expecting that when we podcast again on Monday, Momcilovic will have already made his decision.”

Norlander listed the potential suitors for Momcilovic as Kentucky, Louisville, and Arizona, with Arizona a distant third.

Elsewhere, On3’s Pete Nakos and Joe Tipton are also calling Kentucky the leader for Momcilovic, though Louisville is still firmly in the mix.

“While the momentum is currently trending in the Wildcats’ direction, I’m still not ready to rule out Louisville in this recruitment,” wrote Tipton.

Rick Pitino and St. John’s were believed to be a strong contender in this recruitment, but they are no longer in the running for Momcilovic, according to Adam Zagoria, after they picked up a commitment from former Baylor standout Tounde Yessoufou. Zagoria previously reported that Momcilovic would likely make a decision sometime this weekend, so we may still have a few more days of the waiting game.

Mark Pope and the Wildcats will have to back up the Brinks truck for Momcilovic, as he’s rumored to make around $5-7 million next season and will be one of, if not the, highest-paid players in college basketball.

It’ll be an interesting few days for BBN as the Momcilovic decision looms.
