Anton Bonke Withdraws From NBA Draft, Commits to Michigan State for 2026 Season

Spartan Nation across the country has been waiting on the edge of its seat for major decisions from two potential key contributors for the 2026 season.

Jeremy Fears Jr. has dominated the headlines over the past few weeks. Fans needed to know where Fears would be playing next season. Would it be back in the green and white with Michigan State, or would he keep his name in the NBA Draft?

While fans have been so focused on Fears’ decision, another key contributor has quietly been working out with NBA teams and running through combine drills himself. That player is new transfer portal commit Anton Bonke.

Bonke is the lone transfer portal addition coming into East Lansing this offseason. After what felt like an eternity before Michigan State finally landed a player out of the portal, it was Bonke who stepped up to fill a much-needed role following the departure of Carson Cooper.

The 7-foot-2 big man is a monster on the court who battles hard inside and earns every rebound. He also has a smooth touch around the basket and can stretch the floor when needed. His size alone creates panic for opposing teams, making him a massive addition to a roster already filled with talented and fundamentally sound players.

As the NBA Draft process began, Bonke was one of many college players to submit his name while retaining the option to return to school. Much like fellow Spartan Jeremy Fears Jr., Bonke waited until late in the process before making his final decision.

Now, after discussions with his camp and evaluating his future, Bonke has decided to return to college basketball for one more season. This time, he’ll do it under one of the most respected coaches in the sport, Tom Izzo.

Per Jon Chepkevich, director of scouting at DraftExpress, Bonke’s decision became official in a post on X.

“NEWS: Michigan State commit, Anton Bonke, will withdraw from the 2026 NBA Draft, his agent Scott Nichols of @Rize_Management tells DraftExpress.
