Spurs-Thunder: Victor Wembanyama beats first-half buzzer with half-court shot in dominant Spurs win

The first half of Sunday’s Game 4 of the Western Conference finals was a grind for pretty much anyone not named Victor Wembanyama.

The San Antonio Spurs went into the break with a 50-38 lead in a half in which neither team shot 37% from the field.

But there was no stopping Wembanyama, who finished the first half with 22 points, 5 rebounds, 3 assists and 2 blocks. He capped the half with a heave from the half-court line while surrounded by three Thunder defenders.

The ball sank through the net as the buzzer sounded to extend San Antonio’s lead in a must-win game.

And it was Wembanyama’s plan the whole time. He called for the ball deep in the backcourt in order to set up his shot. The shot was pure, and the Thunder never recovered.

The Spurs extended their 12-point halftime lead into a 103-82 win to tie the series at 2-2.
