Duke’s Isaiah Evans Making Noise Ahead of NBA Draft

Duke has a legendary basketball program known for churning out future NBA stars. Isaiah Evans may be one of them. The shooting guard is making waves in mocks ahead of the 2026 NBA draft, and scouts are taking notice of what he could bring to a team franchise.

In a mock unleashed on Wednesday, May 20, Isaac Trotter of CBS Sports lays out his picks after the Combine. “Beyond the measurements and testing, the conversations behind the scenes provide an illuminating look at where some of the top NBA Draft prospects are trending,” he states.

For Evans, he has the player going to the Dallas Mavericks at the end of the first round.

“If Dallas plucks Kingston Flemings at No. 9, it will need some rangy shooters to complement Flagg, Flemings and Kyrie Irving,” he notes in the piece. “Evans provides that 6-foot-6, 180-pound movement shooter who could fill some of Klay Thompson’s minutes in the not-so-distant future.”

He adds: “Evans rounded out the rough edges of his game, showcasing an ability to curl off pindowns, get downhill and finish with authority.”

My Take: Duke’s Isaiah Evans Deserves to Go in the First Round

One thing I like about Evans is that he’s made clear improvements defensively this season. There are still some questions about his shot creation, and he needs to add strength to handle the size and physicality of the next level, but there will always be demand for a talented 6-foot-6 shooter like Evans.
