Duke’s Jon Scheyer is rumored to be on the shortlist for the next head coach position in Dallas Mavericks. The Mavs fired coach Jason Kidd on May 19. New team president Masai Ujiri took responsibility for the firing after the decision was declared mutual. The Mavs have since then been on a search for their next head coach.

After the whole controversy around Luka Doncic and his exit, the Mavs picked Cooper Flagg as the first draft pick. The aim was and still is to build the franchise around former Duke star. And who better to do that than his former coach from Duke, Jon Scheyer.

However, there hasn’t been any confirmed offer, or even a communication made between both parties. There are still rumors that suggest Mavs are seriously expected to contact and bring Jon Scheyer for a formal interview. The Duke fans briefly went in panic mode as they did not want to see Jon Scheyer leave. However, it is unlikely right now that Scheyer leaves. The Duke fans also have something to be glad about.

The 6-5 junior guard averaged 19.1 points and 5.1 rebounds per game this season, earning Third Team All-Big Ten honors at Wisconsin,” NCAA insider Joseph Tipton reported.

Fans were excited to see that Duke guard John Blackwell had withdrawn from the NBA draft.
