Tip-off time announced for UK-UNC in NYC

We now know the tip-off time for the Kentucky-North Carolina matchup in Madison Square Garden in December in the CBS Sports Classic.

The Wildcats and the Tarheels will tip-off at 2:30 p.m. ET on December 19.

The tip-off time was announced by the KentuckyMBB X account earlier today.

North Carolina will be led this season by new coach Michael Malone, who most recently was the head coach of the Denver Nuggets. This will be one of the first marquee games for UNC this upcoming season, adding an extra level of intrigue to the matchup.

The CBS Sports Classic has undergone some changes recently. UCLA was once included in the event, but later replaced by St. Johns for one year. Kentucky faced off against St. Johns last year in the event, but now Kansas holds that spot. Kansas will face off against Ohio State in the other matchup for this year’s event.

The Cats will look to get revenge on the Tar Heels after UNC defeated Kentucky in Rupp Arena last season. However, Mark Pope’s teams have struggled inside Madison Square Garden. In his first year, Kentucky fell to Ohio State in the CBS Sports Classic at MSG, and last year’s Champions Classic saw Kentucky fall to Michigan State in the Garden.
