Duke and Gonzaga to play in Amazon Prime special game … in Detroit?

Two top college basketball teams will square off in Detroit next season, and neither are based in Michigan.

The Duke Blue Devils will take on the Gonzaga Bulldogs in a regular season men’s basketball game at Little Caesars Arena on Saturday, Feb. 20, 2027.

The game is part of a new series of Duke games that will air on Amazon Prime Video, which will also include a game between the Blue Devils and Michigan basketball at Madison Square Garden in December.

The streamer will present three nonconference Duke men’s basketball games per season as part of the deal that will bring an elite college basketball game to the Motor City.

“In addition to our outstanding partnership with ESPN, we are excited to work with Prime Video on this groundbreaking initiative,” said Nina King in a statement, the vice president and director of athletics at Duke.

On-sale date and game time will be announced at a later date.

In addition to the game in Detroit and the matchup against Michigan, the Blue Devils will also play Michigan State at the United Center on Nov. 10, 2026 as part of the Champions Classic.

In exchange to participate in this deal, Duke has committed to participate in select additional ESPN owned and operated men’s basketball neutral-site events across the 2027-28 and 2028-29 seasons.
