The Minnesota Timberwolves might have just lost a key starter for an indefinite period.
Early in Game 4 of Minnesota’s first-round series against the Denver Nuggets, shooting guard Donte DiVincenzo suffered an Achilles tendon rupture when he fell to the court on a non-contact play. The Timberwolves ruled DiVincenzo out of the game with a lower leg injury. After the game, the team confirmed that the injury was an Achilles tendon injury.

“Completely devastating for Donte,” Timberwolves coach Chris Finch told reporters after the game. “He had been playing so well. He had such a great season; he’s the heart and soul of so many things that we do. You could just see the look in his eye when it happened, you kind of just knew. We’ll love him and we’ll be there for him.”
The Injury happened with 10:43 to play in the first quarter, right after DiVincenzo took a deep 3 on the left wing. When the ball bounced off the rim, DiVincenzo lunged to track the ball down, but he fell to the floor and immediately grabbed his right calf area.
“It’s tough,” Timberwolves forward Julius Randle told reporters after the game. “When you go to war with somebody every night, and you watch somebody compete the way Donte competes and prepares himself — the dude played all 82 games — he’s just the ultimate competitor and what he brings to our team. To see that happen to him, it was tough. It was just hard to watch.”
