Orthodox Jewish basketball player Chaim Galbut announced a historic college basketball commitment on Wednesday.
Galbut, who is from Miami, is looking to become the first observant Orthodox Jewish men’s basketball player to play four years at the Division 1 level.

On Wednesday, he announced his historic commitment. Jonathan Givony of Draft Express shared the breaking news.
“NEWS: Chaim Galbut has committed to Duquesne, where he’ll aim to become the first observant Orthodox Jew to play four years of DI college basketball. The 6’7 forward observes the Sabbath and was discovered on social media by Duquesne, throwing down dunks in a yarmulke,” he shared.
He’s a fun player, who first went viral on social media, as college basketball programs discovered his highlight tapes.

“Greatest kid; sky’s the limit making us all proud; save a spot for his brother too in few yrs,” one fan wrote.
“Duquesne played in 10+ games last season that would have fallen on the Sabbath. So is he just not gonna play in a third of their games every year?” one fan added.
