Blackwell, the Big Ten’s seventh-leading scorer in 2025-2026, immediately became one of the top players in the transfer portal once he entered his name at the end of the season. After cutting his list down to six schools — Alabama, Arizona, Louisville, UCLA, Illinois and Duke — he committed to the Blue Devils on Tuesday, ESPN’s Jeff Borzello reported.

Despite waiting until the final day before the college basketball transfer portal closed, Blackwell said Duke felt like the right landing spot for him “from the jump.”

“It just felt right for me from the jump,” Blackwell said, via ‘The Field of 68: After Dark’ on YouTube. “When I talked to Coach Scheyer and Coach [Emanuel Dildy], it just felt like the right situation for me, and then when I got on campus, it just confirmed everything I was looking for.”

After breaking out with the Badgers as a sophomore, Blackwell took his game to another level in year three, averaging 19.1 points, 5.1 rebounds and 2.3 assists per game, while shooting 38.9 percent from three-point distance. He formed one of the highest-scoring backcourts in the country with fifth-year guard Nick Boyd.

Blackwell joins ex-Belmont forward Drew Scharnowski in committing to Duke from the 2026 transfer portal. The Blue Devils also have the top-ranked recruiting class coming in the offseason, led by five-star prospects…
