Seton Hall basketball adds Roddie Anderson, guard transfer from Xavier

Seton Hall basketball collection of guards for the 2026-27 roster continued Monday with a familiar face from within the Big East Conference.

Roddie Anderson, who played this past season at Xavier, became the third transfer guard to join Shaheen Holloway’s rebuilding effort, which thus far consists of all backcourt players.

Here are three things to know about Anderson, who is a redshirt senior with one year of eligibility remaining.

1. He was a combo guard off the bench for Xavier

The 6-foot-2 Anderson arrived at Xavier in 2024, took a non-medical redshirt for developmental purposes in 2024-25, and was the lone holdover from Sean Miller’s roster to stick around for year under Richard Pitino.

This past season he mostly came off the bench (he did start five games) and averaged 10.9 points, 3.3 rebounds, 2.2 assists and 1.3 steals in 23 minutes per game as Xavier finished 15-16 overall and 6-14 in the Big East. Anderson shot 38.8 percent from the field, 31.4 percent from 3-point range, and 72.2 percent from the free-throw line.

The Musketeers were a poor defensive team, but he does appear to have been one of their better defenders, at least in terms of being disruptive in the passing lanes –a trait he also exhibited at his previous two collegiate stops.

In two contests against the Hall this past season, Anderson averaged 6.5 points, 3.5 rebounds, 2.0 assists, 2.0 turnovers and 1.5 steals while shooting a combined 5-of-16 from the field (31 percent), including 1-of-7 from 3-point range.

In other league highlights, Anderson averaged 13.3 points in three meetings with UConn, dropped 27 points and six assists at Providence and lit up Georgetown for 21 points in late February.
