UConn Star Braylon Mullins Announces He’s Returning To College

After a stellar freshman season that included NCAA Tournament heroics that will make him a legend in March Madness lore, UConn shooting guard Braylon Mullins has a big decision to make on his future. That decision is now in.

Speaking to The Field of 68, Mullins announced that he will be returning to UConn for his sophomore college season rather than going to the NBA or transferring. Mullins was projected to be a first-round pick in the 2026 NBA Draft.

“BREAKING: UConn wing Braylon Mullins will return to Storrs for his sophomore season, he told @TheFieldOf68 . The 6-6 Mullins averaged 12 points this past season and hit the game-winner against Duke in the Elite Eight. Mullins was projected as a first-round pick, but can play his way into the Top 10 this season and was also highly compensated where it made sense to return to college for another year,” basketball insider Jeff Goodman wrote on X.

A breakout year

Braylon Mullins delivered an impressive freshman season at University of Connecticut, quickly becoming one of the Huskies’ top perimeter scorers. During the 2025-26 regular season, Mullins averaged 12.0 points, 3.4 rebounds, and 1.4 assists per game while shooting 43.0% from the field, 33.7% from three-point range, and 88.9% from the free-throw line across 32 games. He also knocked down 69 three-pointers.
