Jake Fiegen commits to Villanova

After the departures of both Chris Jeffrey and Malachi Palmer in recent days, it was assumed that the Wildcats likely had multiple newcomers solidified in the transfer portal. One of those additions is official in Cornell guard Jake Fiegen.

The 6’4” senior was the first player that Villanova had reported contact with prior to the portal opening, and he has decided to come to the Main Line over Vanderbilt, Virginia and the long-assumed Northwestern Wildcats. The Wilmette, IL native provides elite perimeter shooting, which will come in handy with a forward tandem of Kwame Evans Jr. and Devin Royal. Fiegen averaged 17.1 points and 5.1 rebounds per game this past season for the Big Red on 54.6% from the floor and 41.4% from three.

Fiegen could assume the Devin-Askew role off of the bench, while also being able to play with Evans Jr., Royal and Tyler Perkins in smaller lineups. There’s also the possibility that he starts at the shooting guard spot. Regardless, his shooting and experience will be a welcomed addition. Kevin Willard seems excited about the news:

The next order of business for the Wildcats will be adding a starting point guard and a center.
