Kansas Freshman Guard Corbin Allen Enters Transfer Portal, Becomes Seventh Player to Leave

Bill Self and the Kansas Jayhawks had another strong season in 2025-26, finishing 24-11 and tied with the Texas Tech Red Raiders and the Iowa State Cyclones at 12-6 for a No. 3 finish in the Big 12.

Kansas was rewarded with a No. 4 overall seed in the 2026 NCAA Tournament, facing the No. 13 Cal Baptist Lancers in the East Region. The Jayhawks defeated the Lancers 68-60 before falling 67-65 to Rick Pitino and his No. 5-seeded St. John’s Red Storm in the next round. Star guard Darryn Peterson appeared in only 24 games for Self last year, averaging 20.2 points per game.

Self will return for the 2026-27 men’s college basketball season, coaching in his 24th season. The two-time AP National Coach of the Year (2009, 2016) is bringing in a strong 2026 recruiting class, ranked No. 11 overall in the 247Sports Composite. Taylen Kinney headlines the class (No. 13 overall), with center Davion Adkins (No. 70) and forward Trent Perry (No. 94) rounding out the top 100 prospects for Self.

Corbin Allen is a freshman guard whom Self recruited to Kansas last season. The Oak Park High School graduate arrived in Lawrence, Kansas, as an unheralded three-star recruit. Allen did not receive any playing time for the Jayhawks last season and will look to find a better fit for the 2026-27 men’s college basketball season.

On Friday, senior reporter for CBS Sports Matt Zenitz reported that Allen has entered the transfer portal.

“Kansas freshman guard Corbin Allen has entered the transfer portal,” Zenitz wrote on X. “@chris_hummer and I have learned for @CBSSports. Becomes the seventh Kansas player to enter the portal.”

The NCAA men’s transfer portal window opened on April 7 and closes on April 21.
