Miami (FL) basketball is stockpiling on talent after its first March Madness run under Jai Lucas. The Hurricanes now landed an experienced starter and shooter via Villanova.

Acaden Lewis is the newest member of the Hurricanes. He follows chiseled big man Somto Cyril out of Georgia as the latest two College Basketball Transfer Portal additions for “The U.”

The southpaw shooter brings a new shooting dimension for Miami. The point guard averaged 12.2 points per game while dishing out 5.3 assists. He also landed at fourth in steals (1.9) among Big East Conference players.

Lewis shows explosive shot separation on his attempts, including here against Georgetown:

Lewis channels an attack mode the moment he touches the basketball. He doesn’t hesitate to turn on the personal jets in transition. And he brings a quick-fire release on his 3-point attempts.

Lewis surpassed the 20-point mark seven times this past season at ‘Nova. He especially lit up Georgetown with a season-high 26 points on Feb. 7.

He originally verbally committed to Kentucky out of high school in Nov. 2024. The Wildcats landed the nation’s No. 5 ranked point guard for the 2025 class, but Washington D.C’s top-ranked overall prospect by 247Sports. But he decommitted from UK on April 10.

Lewis took recruiting trips to St. John’s, Villanova, Georgia and even Miami between the timeframe of April 16-25 of 2025. He ultimately chose ‘Nova but lasted just one season with the Philadelphia Big East representative.

But Lewis’s arrival to Coral Gables adds to an already aggressive offseason for the ‘Canes.

Miami beat out Arkansas to land Cyril. Lewis hands Lucas a 33-game starter to a team that went 26-9 overall.
