A 6-foot-1, 170-pound Los Angeles native, Johnson is coming off an impressive freshman season in which he averaged 16.9 points, 3.0 assists, and 2.9 rebounds per game across 30.6 minutes. He led Colorado in scoring and steals while finishing second in assists, earning All-Big 12 honorable mention honors. His scoring output ranked third among Big 12 freshmen, behind only AJ Dybantsa and Tounde Yessoufou.

He also operated with control, pairing an 11.3% turnover rate with an 18.6% assist rate.

Johnson made an immediate impact in college, debuting with 24 points against Montana State and later recording 27 points versus BYU and a 28-point, five-assist performance against Arizona. He appeared in 32 games, starting 15.

Originally a three-star recruit ranked outside the top 290 nationally, Johnson quickly outperformed expectations. He entered the portal on March 27 and ultimately committed to Texas after drawing interest from programs such as Kansas, Arkansas, and Texas A&M.
