Former Georgia basketball recruiting target Jizzle James to transfer

Former Georgia Bulldogs basketball recruiting target Jizzle James has entered the NCAA transfer portal. James spent the first three seasons of his college basketball career with the Cincinnati Bearcats in the Big 12. The 6-foot-3, 205-pound point guard has one season of eligibility left.

James is coming off a strong season with Cincinnati where he posted 10.9 points, 2.2 rebounds, 2.1 assists and 0.7 steals per game. He appeared in 23 games for the Bearcats including 21 starts. He connected on over 44% of his three-point attempts in 2025-26, which was a career-high. James is the son of NFL running back Edgerrin James.

James was one of Georgia basketball head coach Mike White’s first recruiting targets. He ended up signing with Cincinnati over Georgia and other top college basketball programs. James is a former four-star recruit and was a top-60 prospect in the class of 2023, per the 247Sports Composite.

James played high school basketball at Olympia in Florida. Cincinnati fired coach Wes Miller in March and has been on an NCAA Tournament drought since the Mick Cronin era. James was dismissed from the Bearcats in the summer of 2025, but later returned with Cincinnati. James’ dismissal will impact what teams are interested in him.

The NCAA transfer portal will be open from April 7-21. Georgia basketball has had seven players enter the transfer portal thus far.
