Braylon Mullins Supports Teammate Eric Reibe’s Decision to Enter Transfer Portal

Braylon Mullins helped the UConn Huskies nearly secure their third national championship in four years during the 2025-26 college basketball season. After finishing the regular season with a 29-5 record and 17-3 in Big East play, UConn secured a No. 2 seed in the NCAA Tournament. But after advancing to the national championship, the Huskies fell just short, falling to the No. 1 seed Michigan Wolverines 69-63.

Mullins became one of Connecticut’s top players during his freshman season. The 6-foot-6 guard from Greenfield, Indiana, averaged 12.0 points, 3.5 rebounds and 1.4 assists per game. Mullins will also go down as a UConn legend after hitting the game-winning three in the Elite Eight against the No. 1 overall seed Duke Blue Devils, sending the Huskies to the Final Four. But now, he sees one of his teammates depart.

Eric Reibe, a towering 7-foot-1 center from Germany, arrived on the college basketball scene as a four-star prospect in the 2025 recruiting class per 247Sports. Ranked as the 36th-best player overall, the fifth-best center in the nation, and the top talent coming out of Germany, he drew serious attention from several elite programs. After receiving scholarship offers from basketball blue-bloods like Kansas, Illinois, Kentucky, and Michigan, Reibe decided to commit to UConn and join head coach Dan Hurley’s squad.

During his freshman season, Reibe stepped into a meaningful role for the Huskies, appearing in all 40 games and earning five starts. He delivered efficient production off the bench, averaging 5.9 points on 65.8% shooting from the field, along with 3.3 rebounds and 0.7 blocks per game in 13.8 minutes. However, playing behind star big man Tarris Reed Jr. limited his court time more than he had hoped, preventing him from securing a larger share of minutes despite his solid contributions.
