Portal Possibility? Villanova’s Bryce Lindsay to meet with Texas

While the college basketball transfer portal just opened, the Texas Longhorns have already been busy reaching out to players. That includes former Villanova star Bryce Lindsay, who has a Zoom call with Texas on Thursday. After another very good season with the Wildcats, Lindsay is looking to switch things up while chasing a national title.

During the 2025 campaign, Lindsay averaged 12.3 points, 2.1 rebounds, and 0.7 steals per game. While playing in a career-high 33 games, the Baltimore native shot 35.6 percent from three-point range and made an impact at both ends of the court. It was the third different program that Lindsay has played for during his college career.

Even though Villanova lost its only March Madness game, Lindsay made the most of his playing time. Against Utah State, the talented guard scored 25 points while dishing out three assists. He also added three rebounds to his resume and made six of his 11 three-point attempts.

Although the Longhorns have made their interest in Lindsey clear, they are not the only program in the mix. He has also been linked to Ohio State, Miami, North Carolina, UCLA, Baylor, Kentucky, Providence, Alabama, and Texas Tech. That list should continue to grow the longer that Lindsay is on the market.

Since taking over as the Longhorns’ head coach, Sean Miller has had success with the portal. Last year, Texas added Dailyn Swain, who became one of the team’s best players before declaring for the NBA Draft. With a few holes to fill, Miller is hoping to have similar success.

If Texas can land a commitment from Lindsay, then the backcourt will get a boost with another playmaker in the mix.
