Ronald Nored, Butler add shooting via portal with Ole Miss transfer

Butler’s men’s basketball team’s international explosion continues as Brazilian Ole Miss guard Eduardo Klafke commits to the Bulldogs, per his Instagram page.

Klafke joins Serbian guard Asim Djulovic and four-star freshman Herly Brutus as new additions under first-year coach Ronald Nored.

Last season, the 6-foot-5 sophomore guard averaged 4.6 points, 2.5 rebounds and 1.1 assists per game. His per game stats may seem modest, but he’s a career 44.6% 3-point shooter, an elite mark from deep. Klafke shot 48.1% from 3 on less than one attempt per game as a freshman. As a sophomore, he shot 42.6% on 1.4 attempts per game. He’s a career 48.2% shooter from the field and hit 70% from the free-throw line.

Nored said spacing is a key principle of his offense. Adding a marksman like Klafke should spread the floor for Butler’s playmakers. Azavier “Stink” Robinson led Butler, shooting 43% on 30 attempts last season. Finley Bizjack made a team-high 68 3s while shooting 34%. Evan Haywood finished second with 55 3-pointers, shooting 35%. As a team, Butler shot 32% from 3.

Klafke’s path to Butler mirrors that of another former Bulldog, his one-time Ole Miss teammate and fellow Brazilian Augusto Cassia. Klafke, like Cassia, is an alum of the NBA Academy Latin America. Klafke came to Ole Miss ranked as the top player out of Brazil in the class of 2024 by 247Sports. Klafke also has FIBA experience, playing for Brazil’s U19 team as a 17 year old.
