Two UW Forwards No Longer Listed on 2026-27 Men’s Basketball Roster

The exodus from the Washington Huskies isn’t as significant as it was last offseason, but two more players from this season’s roster are no longer listed on the team for next season.

Sophomore forward Bryson Tucker, a former five-star recruit who transferred to UW after one season at Indiana, announced his decision to enter the 2026 NBA draft on Tuesday, one day after being removed from the Huskies’ official roster on Monday.

The Huskies have three players who have already announced their decision to transfer: freshmen guards JJ Mandaquit and Courtland Muldrew and sophomore guard Zoom Diallo, while freshman forward Hannes Steinbach has yet to make a public declaration but is also not listed on the 2026-27 roster on UW’s official athletic website.

Steinbach, a 6-foot-11 All-Freshman-Team and third team All-Big-Ten selection, led the Huskies, averaging 18.5 points and 11.8 rebounds per game while leading the conference in total rebounds with 353 boards, 41 rebounds more than the next closest player.

The Würzburg, Germany native signed with Excel Sports Management last month, a strong indication he would be declaring for the draft, though no formal announcement has been made by Steinbach or his representation one way or another as of Monday, the day before the transfer portal officially opens for business.

The departure of Tucker, a former five-star recruit in the 2025 class who transferred to UW from Indiana before last season, hits differently than the expected exit by Steinbach.

Tucker started 14 games and made 21 total appearances this past season for Sprinkle, opening the season with a double-double against Arkansas Pine-Bluff with 12 points and 10 rebounds in 29 minutes of action. Tucker shot 46 percent from the floor over the first three games until an ankle injury suffered in a 78-69 loss at Baylor on November 9 sidelined him for just over a month.
