Two more in-state transfers Wisconsin basketball could target

After losing four of their starters, either to the transfer portal or graduation, the Wisconsin Badgers must go all-in on the transfer portal.

The team has a few inexperienced players who could make their mark on this roster. Still, longtime head coach Greg Gard is well aware that he must find impact players in the portal if the team is to be a contender.

There have been numerous Wisconsin natives to join the portal since it opened earlier this week, but this is the latest pair that Gard could pursue ahead of the 2026-27 season.

1. Will Hornseth

One of the most interesting aspects of pursuing the Northern Iowa forward is the fact that he has experience playing with Badgers guard Zach Kinziger. Together, the two were unstoppable at De Pere High School.

According to Sam Kayser, Hornseth entered the portal with a “do not contact” tag. That means he likely already has a destination in mind.

Either way, he’s a 6-foot-8 sophomore who could come to Wisconsin with two more years of eligibility. He’s fresh off a season where he started all 35 games and averaged 11.1 points, 4.6 rebounds, and 2.2 assists per game.

2. Nick Janowski

Kayser also reported that Janowski would be entering the portal after being named First Team All-Summit League at St. Thomas.

Janowski began his career at Nebraska, where he was redshirted. Now, he could be eyeing a move back to the Big Ten. The Pewaukee, WI, native still has three years of eligibility remaining and looked tremendous with the Tommies as a redshirt freshman.

The 6-foot-4 guard started all 34 games in the 2025-26 season as he was second on the team with 16.1 points but led the way with his 5.1 rebounds per game.
