The NCAA transfer portal opened up on Tuesday, and the Wisconsin Badgers have seen four players depart already: guard John Blackwell, forward Aleksas Bieliauskas, forward Jack Robison, and center Riccardo Greppi.
In today’s world of college basketball, we’re seeing rosters constantly experiencing change, with players looking to move on for a better financial situation, more playing time, a better team, or a variety of reasons. That has shifted the focus away from high school basketball, given the need for ready-now players with financials involved.

This offseason, we’ve now seen Wisconsin’s heralded 2024 recruiting class unravel. Former four-star guard Daniel Freitag was the first to depart, with Robison and Greppi joining him this offseason.
Freitag left for a better opportunity, heading to the Buffalo Bulls, where he enjoyed a breakout season in 2025. Leading the Bulls, Freitag averaged 19.8 points, 4.3 rebounds, and 3.8 assists, while shooting 41.1 percent from the field and 36.1 percent from three.
Well, following his strong season, Freitag is hitting the transfer portal once again, as he looks to capitalize on a quality year in the MAC. It’s an interesting decision, as the point guard saw his ups and downs as the leader of the program. He struggled with efficiency inside the arc, and his defensive inconsistencies were still a problem, but he thrived in transition and showed the potential of being a quality point guard.
We’ll see where he ends up this offseason, but the Minnesota native is considered a four-star transfer prospect by 247Sports.
