Kentucky expected to target an Oregon forward in the transfer portal

Once the transfer portal opens on Tuesday, the Kentucky Wildcats and coach Mark Pope are expected to be very busy. They have multiple roster spots to fill, and are in need of an influx of talent. They are rumored to be interested in a number of players already, and Kwame Evans Jr. is another name to watch.

Kentucky Sports Radio is reporting that Evans is expecting the Wildcats to be one of the teams contacting him once the portal opens. It’s an interest that makes sense for Kentucky, who is looking for some frontcourt help after losing Mouhamed Dioubate and Brandon Garrison.

Evans is a 6’10”, 210 lb power forward out of Florida. He was the No. 18 overall prospect in the 2023 recruiting class, and chose the Oregon Ducks over several power programs, including Kentucky.

This past year, he showed what he is capable of, averaging 13.3 points, 7.4 rebounds, and 1.3 blocks per game. If Pope is recruiting him, he likely thinks he can get even more out of him.

The portal opens tomorrow, and we will have further coverage of all of Kentucky’s targets.
