Michigan defeated UConn 69-63 on Monday night, earning the second title in school history. The win also snapped the Big Ten’s 26-year drought without a men’s basketball championship.

As the confetti fluttered around Lucas Oil Stadium in Indianapolis, we knew this was the beginning of the end for the 2025-26 season.

As CBS Sports took the broadcast window to Midnight ET, the One Shining Moment montague closed out the NCAA Tournament and coincided with the opening of the transfer portal.

What a way to end the season and the start of a new era in college basketball. Michigan won’t have the championship trophy back in Ann Arbor before over 1,000 players decide to take their talents elsewhere.

The harsh reality of college athletics as it stands today. One takeaway from this year’s title game was the Wolverines are the first team in NCAA history to win a championship with an all-transfer starting five. Expect more teams to be like this in the future.
