Kentucky Basketball forward Mouhamed Dioubate is headed to the transfer portal after just one season in Lexington, according to Joe Tipton of On3.
The former 4-star recruit (high school and transfer) committed to Mark Pope and the Cats after spending two seasons playing for Nate Oats and the Alabama Crimson Tide. In Tuscaloosa, Dioubate was known as a defensive stopper and monster rebounder.

After very limited minutes in his freshman season, he averaged 7.2 points and 5.9 rebounds per game as a sophomore in just 16 minutes per contest. He also shot 46% from deep, albeit on just 26 attempts, but compiled the counting stats.
Mo transferred to UK for a bigger role, and he got just that at the Cats’ expense. His defensive identity and rebounding presence held true, but he did not take a major step forward offensively. He averaged 8.8 points but just 5.5 rebounds on 21.4% shooting from 3-point range in 22 minutes per game.
The 6-7 forward is a really good piece off the bench, but he is what he is at this point. He can be useful, but only in limited minutes in his role and on the right team. If surrounded by shooters, Mo D showed what he can do at Alabama, but with Malachi Moreno at the center spot, it clogs the lane and doesn’t provide enough shooting or spacing. This just wasn’t a good fit.
It’s not immediately clear where Dioubate may go, but we wish him the best. We’ll miss his MOtivational Monday speeches.
