Michigan’s Cadeau to support Tahaad Pettiford at NIT Championship

Michigan Wolverines guard Elliot Cadeau has plans for Sunday night, one day removed from his 13-point, 10-assist performance in a blowout win over the Arizona Wildcats in the NCAA Final Four.

Auburn guard Tahaad Pettiford was in attendance for Saturday’s Final Four matchup between the Wolverines and Wildcats to support Cadeau, his longtime friend. Cadeau plans to return the favor Sunday night when the Auburn Tigers battle the Tulsa Golden Hurricane for the NIT Championship at Gainbridge Fieldhouse in Indianapolis, Indiana, a few blocks away from the Final Four location at Lucas Oil Stadium.

Cadeau told Jerry Humphrey of AL.com that he and Pettiford have a long history of supporting each other’s playing careers.

“(Pettiford) was in the Final Four last year, and I came to watch him. It is just like a brother thing from us,” Cadeau said following Michigan’s Final Four win over Arizona on Saturday.

It also helps matters that both the NCAA Final Four and the NIT Championship Game are held in the same city. Cadeau says he is amazed at the perfect atmosphere that Indianapolis has created for basketball fans.

“It’s definitely great. There is so much good basketball going on, so many talented teams, I think it makes the environment better,” Cadeau said. “Everybody that’s out here loves basketball.”

Cadeau and the Michigan Wolverines will face UConn in the NCAA Championship Game on Monday at 7:50 p.m. CT. Before that, Cadeau will support Tahaad Pettiford as the Auburn Tigers face Tulsa at 7 p.m. CT Sunday for the NIT Championship.
