The National Championship game is set for Monday night. UConn and Michigan will meet to decide the next champion in men’s college basketball in an intriguing matchup. Both teams handled their opponents in the Final Four round of the NCAA Tournament.

UConn beat Illinois 71-62 in the first game. While Michigan blew out Arizona 91-73 in the battle of No. 1 seeds. This was the fifth time the Wolverines scored 90 points or more, which is an NCAA Tournament record.

These two teams stack up nicely. UConn is aiming to win their third championship in four years under Dan Hurley. They’re 11-0 in the Sweet 16 and beyond under the hot shot head coach. As for Michigan, history isn’t on their side. Dusty May’s team is aiming to become the first Big Ten team to win the championship since 2000.

Over the last 26 years, the Big Ten is 0-8 in the title game. Michigan State won the last championship for the conference over Florida in 2000. This includes two losses by Michigan on the biggest stage.
