As Duke’s Cameron Boozer accepted his Associated Press Men’s College Basketball Player of the Year award on Sunday, he told reporters he suffered a couple orbital fractures. Despite the nature of the injury, the projected top-five 2026 NBA Draft pick opted not to have surgery.
This news comes a little over a week after UConn eliminated No. 1 overall seed Duke from the men’s NCAA tournament on Braylon Mullins’ 3-pointer with 0.4 seconds left for a 74-73 win.
Boozer was part of the electric freshman class in college basketball this season. The son of former NBA star Carlos Boozer averaged 22.5 points, 10.2 rebounds and 4.1 assists per game this season.
At 6-foot-9 and 250 pounds, he’ll be a great addition at the next level with an outstanding inside-out game, along with being a natural rebounder. Not to mention, Boozer is a top-tier ball handler for his size and has range anywhere on the floor.

If everything pans out for Boozer, he could be the next generation’s version of Lakers star Luka Doncic. An efficient scorer who has a lot of versatility in his game with years to grow.
