Wisconsin Badgers men’s basketball fans arguably still aren’t over the fact that their team was knocked out in the first round of the NCAA Tournament by No. 12-seed High Point.
Seeing No. 1 Michigan in the National Championship game stings quite a bit, especially since that’s a Wolverines team the Badgers beat on the road back on January 10.

Wisconsin also came up three points short against Michigan in the Big Ten Tournament, but the Wolverines left no doubt in the Final Four when they ran through No. 1 Arizona, 91-73.
According to ESPN Insights, it was Arizona’s largest loss since December 31, 2023. While that New Year’s Eve game was an 18-point defeat at Stanford, it’s worth noting this was the Wildcats first wire-to-wire loss since November 15, 2024, at Wisconsin.
The Badgers’ fourth game of the year last season saw them host the No. 9 Wildcats in a game Arizona wanted to get out of their head as soon as possible. Wisconsin emerged victorious, 103-88, thanks to a 41-point night from John Tonje. Ultimately, Arizona didn’t lead for a second, while the Badgers at one point led by as many as 18 points.

Knowing Arizona’s 2025-26 season came to an end with a 36-3 overall record, Michigan’s victory is undoubtedly impressive, but Wisconsin can at least say it did the same thing roughly a year and a half ago.
