Being chosen to referee the Final Four, or even the national championship game, is a special distinction in college basketball. With the Final Four this weekend, there are a bunch of the guys in stripes who get that recognition.

The NCAA announced this weekend the refs for the two national semifinals and the national title game.

The Final Four matchups pit UConn against Illinois and Arizona against Michigan.

The final will be Monday night between the two winners.

Who are the Final Four refs?

Illinois-UConn

The three refs for the first national semifinal are Ron Groover, Paul Szelc and Marques Pettigrew, with Greg Nixon as alternate.

They ranked 3 (Groover), 4 (Pettigrew) and 10 (Szelc) in KenPom ref rankings.

Arizona-Michigan

The three refs for the nightcap are Doug Sirmons, Keith Kimble and Doug Shows. Lee Cassell is the alternate.

They rank 1 (Sirmons), 5 (Kimble) and 13 (Shows) in KenPom’s rankings.

National championship

That leaves Jeff Anderson, James Breeding and Kipp Kissinger for the final, with the alternate to be determined.

They rank 2 (Kissinger), 8 (Anderson) and 16 (Breeding) in the KenPom ref rankings.
