Seth Trimble’s 2025-26 season in review

As we wrap up our coverage of the 2025-26 basketball season and the ongoing search for North Carolina’s next head coach, we continue our player reviews.

Next up is senior guard Seth Trimble. While Trimble was the third scoring option behind Caleb Wilson and Henri Veesaar, he was the team’s most important player as its leader and the only one who spent all four seasons in Chapel Hill. He was also one of the biggest reasons Veesaar chose to wear Carolina blue after transferring from Arizona.

Here is a breakdown of Trimble’s final season as a member of the Tar Heels.

2025-26 stats: 14.0 points, 3.8 rebounds, 3 assists per game, 47.1 percent field goal shooting in 24 games

Trimble had a career year in his final season in Chapel Hill, posting career highs in points, assists and rebounds per game, as well as in shooting percentages. He also recorded four 20-point games — after having just one over his first three seasons — and finished with a 16.6% assist rate, the best mark of his career.

He was an excellent slasher, shooting 79-for-123 (64.2%) at the rim, including 10-for-11 on dunk attempts. However, he struggled outside the paint, going 18-for-58 (30.4%) on two-point shots outside the lane and 18-for-63 (28.6%) on 3-point attempts.

His best game came against Louisville, when he scored a career-high 30 points in a 77-74 win over the No. 24 Cardinals, adding four assists, four rebounds and a steal. It is also hard to overlook his performance in UNC’s 71-68 win over Duke, when he scored 16 points, added three steals and two rebounds, and hit the game-winning shot at the buzzer in one of the rivalry’s all-time great games.

For his efforts, he was an honorable mention All-ACC selection.
