INDIANAPOLIS – Every time Arizona coach Tommy Lloyd says his entire focus this weekend is on his team, that he’s not a “multitasker”, he is accomplishing two goals at the same time.

The first is obviously foremost, the one truly commanding his attention: attempting to win Arizona’s second NCAA championship ever, and his first as a head coach, this weekend at Lucas Oil Stadium.
The second is using his presence here to assure his future as Wildcats coach will be at least as fruitful and successful as his first five seasons have been. And if that means using the leverage that is accrues to a current Final Four coach, well he obviously has no problem with this at all.

“Listen, I’ve got my full focus on this team. Nothing is distracting me. That’s just how I’ve decided to approach it,” Lloyd told the assembled media Thursday. “I’m excited. I thought we had a really good practice today. I’m excited to play and for our practice tomorrow.

“I’m a simple guy. I am kind of just one thing at a time … You can ask my wife. I’m 100 percent locked in on Arizona basketball right now, and I’m excited to see what this team can do.
“I have a real strong belief in this team, and this team deserves my full attention, so that’s what I’m giving them.”
