Danny Sprinkle and the Washington Huskies are still in the race for the nation’s No. 1 prospect in the 2026 class, five-star forward Tyran Stokes.
For a long time, it didn’t seem like the Huskies had a shot to reel in his services, but after transferring to Seattle’s Rainier Beach High School to play for coach Jamal Crawford, Sprinkle and the rest of Washington’s coaching staff have done a good job of establishing a foothold and hanging around in the race for his services.

Now, with the 6-foot-7, 230-pound forward nearing a commitment, the Huskies may need to turn up the heat. According to a report from Zagsblog’s Adam Zagoria, both the Huskies and Gonzaga Bulldogs have made a late surge in his recruitment in an attempt to unseat longtime favorites Kansas, Kentucky, and Oregon.
However, that’s going to be a very tall task. Stokes, who, according to ESPN’s Paul Bancardi, could announce his commitment after the Nike Hoop Summit on April 11, has held a crystal ball to choose to coach Bill Self and the Jayhawks since January, but the Huskies are hoping that the allure of Seattle’s deep-rooted basketball culture could keep him in the Emerald City for another year.
As Sprinkle looks to retool his roster for his third season on Montlake, one other thing that could help reel in the services is making a strong impression in the early days of the transfer portal and filling out a strong roster around him.

According to ESPN’s Cory Alexander, Stokes is in no rush to make a decision and may wait to see how some rosters shape up before making his decision.
