Belmont basketball freshman Jack Smiley returning for sophomore season

Belmont’s freshman standout Jack Smiley will return to the Bruins for his sophomore season.

Belmont confirmed, on April 2, the Missouri Valley Conference All-Freshman honoree will remain a Bruin following the departure of coach Casey Alexander for Kansas State and the hiring of his replacement in Evan Bradds on March 19. Smiley was in attendance for Bradds’ introductory press conference on April 1 alongside several other Belmont players.

Smiley was also named to the MVC All-Bench team after averaging 8.5 points, 2.6 assists and 1.9 rebounds while playing 17.3 minutes per game. The Bruins finished the season 26-6, falling to Drake in the MVC Tournament quarterfinals.
